About Course

This full-year Geometry course helps students make sense of the shapes and patterns that make up the world around them. Through 10 structured units, students will explore angles, triangles, circles, and coordinate geometry while building confidence in problem-solving and logical reasoning.

Proofs are introduced in a guided, student-friendly way to develop critical thinking without unnecessary frustration.

Prerequisite: Algebra 1

Unit 2: Intro to Deductive Reasoning (Coming September 2026)
In Unit 2, students will learn about deductive and logical reasoning, while learning basic proofs. They will also continue to learn more angle relationships.

Unit 3: Transformations (Coming October 2026)
In Unit 3, students will work with transformations both on and off of a coordinate plane. We will look at translations, rotations and reflections.

Unit 4: Triangles and Congruency (Coming November 2026)
In Unit 4, students will learn about all the types of triangles and their properties. They will also work with congruency and triangle congruency theorems.

Unit 5: Similar Figures (Coming December 2026)
In Unit 5, students will learn about similarity in figures and dilations on a coordinate plane. They will also work with proportional lengths.

Unit 6: Right Triangles (Coming January 2026)
In Unit 6, students will work with right triangles. We will learn about the pythagorean theorem, square roots, distance and midpoints. We will also start a small introduction to right triangle trig with special right triangle ratios and SOHCAHTOA.

Unit 7: Quadrilaterals (Coming February 2026)
In Unit 7, students will work with quadrilaterals. We will learn properties of all the types of quads, including kites, trapezoids, parallelograms and more.

Unit 8: Polygons (Coming March 2027)
In Unit 8, students will work with polygons, including angle relationships. They will also explore the area and perimeter of multi-sided figures.

Unit 9: Circles (Coming April 2027)
In Unit 9, students will work with circles, starting with circumference and area. They will also explore tangents, chords, secants and more.

Unit 10: Volume and Surface Area (Coming May 2027)
In Unit 10, students will explore 3D figures by working with volume and surface area. Some of the figures we will work with are cylinders, cones, spheres and prisms.
